PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a latex of a pH of 3-8, and a method for producing a latex with less scales during polymerization.SOLUTION: A vinyl chloride-based copolymer latex and a method for producing the same are provided. The vinyl chloride-based copolymer latex of pH 3-8 includes 0.20-10.0 pts.wt. of an organic compound having a sulfonate or sulfate ester salt and 0.05-3.0 pts.wt. of a higher fatty acid salt relatively to 100 pts.wt. of a vinyl chloride-carboxylic acid vinyl ester copolymer having an average particle diameter of 0.12 μm or less.
