The housing (1) has a pressure relief valve (20) including a closure element (21), which closes an opening (11) of a battery housing wall (10). The closure element releases the opening by an inner pressure in the housing for realizing a volume flow (100) from the housing, where the inner pressure deviates from a preset reference-pressure range. The pressure relief valve includes a spring element (22) e.g. torsion spring, by which a force for closing the opening is proportionately produced by a weight force of the closure element. An independent claim is also included for a method for maintenance and/or repair of a battery.
