Drive switch for operating machine with multiple stage switch operation

The drive switch has a manual switch lever (1) for selecting operation and drive direction. The switches (2,3,4,5,6) are actuated via the lever (1). The actuation signals are conveyed to an electric control device. The lever (1) is pivotal about a pivot axis (10) between locked positions (7,8,9) for a forward position (7), a neutral position (8) and a reverse position (9). In at least one of these positions (7,8,9) by a lateral tilt movement (12,13) about another pivot axis (11) a high switching is achieved in one direction (14) and a back switching is achieved in another direction (15). The forward (7), neutral (8) and reverse position (9) may be arranged in a row in this order from the front to the back. Preferably the lateral tilt movement is carried out in the transverse direction and has turning points to the left and right of the set positions.
