PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing alpha-lipoic acid or derivative compound thereof is provided to promote the expression of thyroglobulin(Tg) or thyroid transcription factor(TTF-1). CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for treating thyroid cancer contains alpha-lipoic acid or derivative compound thereof as an active ingredient. The derivative is dihydrolipoic acid. The compound is an inducer of differentiation which promotes the expression of a thyroid-specific gene.
