PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operation convenience in a communication device which can electrically connect an IC card to store specific information such as IC codes and memory dials. SOLUTION: When the control circuit 16 of an on-vehicle telephone system 1 (communication device) detects that a SIM card (IC card) 8 is electrically connected with power supply in an on state (active state), it transfers specific information stored on the card 8 to a storing part 19. After that, when a user performs a prescribed key operation to read the specific information on the card 8, the specific information stored on the card 8 is read not from the card 8 but from the part 19 because it is already transferred to the part 19 from the card 8 and stored in the part 19. Thus, it is possible to reduce a time needed to read the specific information on the card 8 and to improve operation convenience.
