PURPOSE: A method for providing a search engine and an apparatus applied in the same are provided to provide an extraction search word set as the result for search request, by searching search moving picture through search for the database based on a moving picture map on the basis of a search word, and extracting the extraction search word set corresponding to the search moving picture from the related moving picture map related with the search moving picture. CONSTITUTION: A search engine server searches moving picture map database on the basis of a request search word determined from search request (S104). A sink moving picture satisfying a searched moving picture searched through the request search word and the fixed identical decision criteria is determined, and the extraction search word set to extract the sink moving picture is acquired from the moving picture map including the sink moving picture (S114). The extraction search word set is provided as a recommended search word, for the reply to the search request (S116). The moving picture map database stores a moving picture map to develop subject associative relationship among moving pictures classified by subject on the screen of a user in the map type.
