PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate an in-plane flicker. SOLUTION: A flicker correcting circuit 302 specifies an image display position based on a dot clock DCLK and a horizontal clock HCLK and generates correction signals Vhr, Vhg, Vhb from a preliminarily stored reference correction data Dref based on the display position and respective gradation values of image data DR', DG', DB'. A phase developing circuit 303R generates phase development correction signals vh1 to vh6 by performing the phase development of the correction signal Vhr in synchronization with an image signal VIDR. An amplifier and inversion circuit 304R generates polarity inverted picture signals VID1 to VID6 by superposing signals in which polarity inversion is applied to the phase development correction signals vh1 to vh6 on an amplitude center voltage in which a counter electrode voltage Vcom is added to the phase development correction signals vh1 to vh6.
