PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic emulsion having high sensitivity and excellent shelf life, a method for preparing the emulsion and a silver halide photographic sensitive material using the emulsion. SOLUTION: The silver halide emulsion is prepared by adding an organometallic compound of the formula (R)s-M-(X)t at the start of the addition, during the addition or in the suspension of the addition of an aqueous solution of a soluble silver salt and an aqueous solution of a soluble halogen salt when photosensitive silver halide grains are formed. In the formula, M is a metal selected from Pb, Sn, B, Bi and Tl; each R is aryl, a heterocyclic group, alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl; each X is halogen, hydroxy or alkoxy; (s) is an integer of 1-4; (t) is an integer of 0-3; when M is Pb or Sn, s+t=4; when M is B or Bi, s+t=3; and when M is Tl, s+t=1 or 3.
