The present invention relates to a power control device of a high voltage unit in an eco-friendly vehicle and a method thereof capable of preventing an electric shock accident by blocking power which is automatically supplied from a high voltage battery when a cover of the high voltage unit is opened. The present invention comprises a cover sensing unit which senses opening the cover of the high voltage unit; a vehicle speed detecting unit which detects a vehicle speed; a high voltage controller which controls state display for high voltage and blocks the high voltage based on a cover sensing signal and the vehicle speed; a battery pack which blocks the output of the high voltage according to high voltage blocking control of the high voltage controller; and a cluster which displays a high voltage warning signal or a high voltage safety signal according to state displaying control of the high voltage controller.
