PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data communication unit permitting data communication between an asynchronous PPP unit and a synchronous PPP unit. SOLUTION: The data communication unit 1 comprises an asynchronous interface section 11 transmitting/receiving asynchronous PPP data, a synchronous interface section 12 transmitting/receiving synchronous PPP data, an ACCM storage section 14 for storing ACCM values concerning to control code escape, and a PPP synchronous/asynchronous converting section 13 wherein synchronous/ asynchronous conversion is performed between an asynchronous PPP unit 2 and a synchronous PPP unit 3. The synchronous/asynchronous converting section 13 monitors an LCP set request from the asynchronous PPP unit 2 constantly, stores ACCM values included in the LCP set request in the ACCM storage section 14, and performs escape processing of a control code for data from the synchronous PPP unit 3 after establishing LCP using the ACCM values stored in the ACCM storage section 14.
