The invention relates to a method for producing an endless film strip from a polymer material, which endless film strip is intended for use as a fabric, preferably as a transport belt within a papermaking or paper-processing machine, in which method the two ends (3, 3') of the film strip (1) are joined to one another. It is provided here that a single-layer film is used which is stretched longitudinally, or uniaxially, or longitudinally and transversely, or biaxially, from which film a film strip (1) is produced which is cut to the desired length and subsequently both ends (3, 3') of the film strip (1) are formed in a complementary manner, that is to say so as to complement one another, for a join or junction (4, 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d) which is to be produced, with the result that abutting edges (2, 2') or an overlapping region (A) are/is formed, in which overlapping region (A) the two prepared ends (3, 3') of the film strip (1) are subsequently welded to one another by way of a transmission welding process known per se, wherein the junction (4, 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d) which is formed has substantially the same properties, that is to say thickness and mechanical stability, as the rest of the film strip (1). |
