The present invention relates to a mechanism for allowing a door, window or vent to be opened by sliding. In particular the door, window or vent being suspended from an overhead tube firmly attached to the structure above the door. When the door is required to be opened or closed gentle pressure is applied to the side of the door, the bracket or brackets attached to the top of the door through which the tube passes slide along the tube thus opening and closing the door.
