An apparatus and a method for manufacturing a backlight unit for an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) are provided to automatically perform the assembly processes for supplying and fixing lamps to the backlight unit. An apparatus for manufacturing a backlight unit for an LCD comprises a carrying member for carrying a bottom chassis(1) for manufacturing the backlight unit into positions according to each process for assembling a lamp. A lamp feeding unit(FD/U) supplies the lamp in order to maintain the seating state of the both electrodes of the lamp on a fixing socket before the lamp is fixed to a lamp fixing socket of the bottom chassis. A lamp fixing unit(FX/U) fixes the lamp so that the electrodes of the lamp seated on the fixing socket are completely fixed to the terminal of the fixing socket. The carrying member includes a carry pallet(2) for seating the bottom chassis. A driving member offers the moving force according to the process progress of the carry pallet. Separate guide rollers are mounted to the left and right edges of the carry pallet and have guide rails(3) for guiding the straight line movement of the carry pallet. |
