Disclosed is a bicycle rental system using a smartphone, which includes: a bicycle stand which is installed in a bicycle station, has a bicycle locking unit which is locked and unlocked from a public bicycle, and unlocks the bicycle locking unit when receiving bicycle rental approval information from a user terminal; and a management center which receives, stores, and manages public bicycle rental approval request information or public bicycle return approval request information which is generated in the user terminal and transmits public bicycle rental approval information or public bicycle return approval information to the user terminal. The public bicycle rental approval request information and the public bicycle return approval request information include: membership information which is stored in the user terminal; identification information of a stand on which a public bicycle to be rented or returned is mounted; and user terminal location information. Identification information of a public bicycle is inputted from the public bicycle stand to the user terminal through a local area network between the user terminal and the bicycle stand. |
