According to one embodiment of the present invention, a system and a method for recommending contents can: recommend content of a category suitable for an external environment by collecting external environment information of a vehicle from a state information collection unit mounted in the vehicle, analyzing the collected information and recognizing the external environment of the vehicle; recommend content of a category suitable for the type of passenger by collecting passenger information from a passenger information collection unit mounted in the vehicle and recognizing the type of passenger through the collected information; and recommend the contents expected as a user preference according to a change in the external environment of the vehicle by collecting the external environment information of the vehicle and the content selection information of the user and analyzing the external environment of a plurality of vehicles and content selection types of users according to the external environment.
