The present invention relates to methods of extracting hydrocarbons from an oil matrix, either above the surface or in site in an oil deposit and to methods for treating soils contaminated with hydrocarbons and other contaminants. The methods of the present invention are based on the use of a citrus-based solvent and ultrasound energy to extract hydrocarbons from an oil matrix and to treat soils contaminated with organic and/or inorganic contaminants. |
