PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a muffler for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine of an automobile, suitable for a lightweight design.SOLUTION: A muffler 1 for an exhaust system includes: a housing 2 which includes a housing shell 3 that extends in the circumferential direction U of the housing; at least one first composite plate 6 which constitutes a part of the housing shell 3; a housing interior space 4 having at least one partitioned space 8, wherein the housing interior space is enclosed by the housing 2; and a self-supporting type support structure 5 which supports a pipe arrangement 7 at least partially housed in the housing interior space 4. |
