PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a caption in a legible manner to a viewer during fast-forward reproduction of a recorded program.SOLUTION: A recording/reproducing device (10) includes: an information recording device (13) for storing a recorded program; a recording execution unit (161) for recording a program including a caption in an information recording device; a video fast-forwarding reproduction part (163) for fast-forward reproducing a video of a scene that is a partial section of the recorded program stored in the information recording device; a caption priority setting part (164) for setting a priority in each caption included in the scene to be fast-forward reproduced; a caption selection part (165) for selecting such a caption which has a high priority and in which the total of a display time is within a fast-forward reproduction time from a plurality of captions included in the scene to be fast-forward reproduced as a display candidate; and a caption display control part (166) for displaying each caption of the display candidate for a display time longer than a shortened display time corresponding to a corresponding fast-forward reproduction speed during video fast-forward reproduction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
