PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain polyphenylene ether powders having proper pulverization rate, having less solvent to be used, capable of obtaining a molded body having practically sufficient strength and capable of inhibiting generation of fine powders after re-pulverization.SOLUTION: A production method for polyphenylene ether powders includes a precipitation step of adding a polymer solution obtained by polymerizing a phenol compound, and a poor solvent into a precipitation tank to precipitate polyphenylene ether. In the polymer solution to be added to the precipitation tank, X and Y satisfy the following formulas (I): 30<X≤48; and (II): Y≤min{0.45, 13.252×(X/100)-0.8725×(X/100)-0.5196} (wherein X is the concentration of [mass%] of polyphenylene ether in a good solvent solution; Y is the mass ratio (poor solvent/good solvent) of the poor solvent added to the precipitation tank in the precipitation step to the good solvent in the polymer solution; and Y≤min{a, b} means that Y is a smaller value or less of either a or b). |
