<p>A vehicle 1 having a prime mover 11 at least first 12, 13 and second 14, 15 groups of one or more wheels and a driveline to connect the prime mover 11 to the first 12, 13 and second 14, 15 groups of wheels. The first group 12, 13 of wheels is driven by the prime mover 11 when the driveline is in a first mode of operation and the second group 14, 15 of wheels is additionally driven by the prime mover 11 when the driveline is in a second mode of operation. The driveline including an auxiliary driveline comprising releasable torque transmitting means 22, 27 operable to connect the second group of wheels to the prime mover when the driveline transitions between the first mode and the second mode. The vehicle 1 is operable to control the driveline to transition between the first and second modes responsive to the value of one or more vehicle operating parameters and the vehicle is configured to prevent a transmission between first and second modes in dependence on a vehicle operating temperature.</p> |
