Cobalt alloy for medical implants and stent comprising the alloy

Cobalt alloy comprises 13-30 wt.% of chromium, 2-10 wt.% of manganese, 2-18 wt.% of tungsten, 5-15 wt.% of iron, 0.002-0.5 wt.% of carbon, 0-0.2 wt.% of nitrogen, 0-2 wt.% of silicon and 0-5 wt.% of nickel, where all the alloying components and manufacturing related impurities add up to 100 wt.%, provided that the sum of carbon and nitrogen is 0.003-0.5 wt.%, the ratio of nitrogen to carbon is = 1 wt.% for 0.07-0.15 wt.% of carbon, and the sum of oxygen, phosphorus and sulfur is less than 0.10 wt.%. An independent claim is included for a stent made entirely or partially of the cobalt alloy.
