<p>Joining tubular sections of a riser assembly involves the use of a metal spray 22 process to apply a layer of cladding 26 onto ends of the tubular members 20 and the ends are threaded to form respective box and pin configurations. Grooves 301, 302 are provided onto the surface of the tubular members 20 beneath where the metal spray 22 is applied for enhancing adhesion of the cladding 26 and tubular members 20. The layer of cladding 26 provides sufficient material so that threads may be selectively formed on the outer or the inner surface of the tubular members 20.</p> |
