Sliding seats.-In a sliding seat, the seat proper 14 carries rollers 12 running on horizontal guides 16, and is hinged. at 22 to the back 24 which has lateral projections 25 carrying rollers engaging arcuate slots 29 in the frame members 30. A spring 31 is connected between the chair frame and the sliding seat to overcome the tendency of the seat and back to move under the influence of gravity. The seat may be prevented from being raised from its guides 16 by means of a transverse member 20 secured to the seat and extending beneath the side members of the chair frame. |
