<p>The present invention relates to a character input apparatus and a character input method for the same. The character input apparatus according to the present invention comprises: a storage unit for storing information about the placement location of an input unit; and a control unit for storing, in the storage unit, by program, information about the placement location used in a program installed to the apparatus, identifying whether the program runs, and loading a placement location corresponding to the running program from the storage unit. Therefore, the placement of an input interface can be dynamically changed according to a type of a running program or the selection of a user, and the user can freely register an interface having various shapes and placement in the apparatus and can move a location at which the input interface is displayed according to an input state.
