An apparatus and a method for managing an image of a surveillance system are provided. The image management apparatus of a surveillance system according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a first storage unit which stores image data which is provided from at least one camera; a second storage unit which stores copy data of the image data; and a control unit which stores the image data in the first storage unit in real time and copies and stores the image data which is stored in the first storage unit in the second storage unit.
