Provided are a data processing method and an embedded device. The method includes: after receiving a dynamic host configuration protocol request from a host device, an embedded device allocating a local area network address and gateway for the host device; the embedded device receiving a data packet transmitted by the host device via an MBIM interface; and the embedded device judging the internal/external network type of the data packet, and performing corresponding processing according to different types of data packets. The present invention utilizes an MBIM network card protocol interface to realize various controls on an MBIM-based mobile broadband device by utilizing a TCP/IP protocol stack standard IP data packet over an MBIM data path.
