The calculation part determines the abnormal-sensor motor drive current from a crank shaft rotation angle command value &thetas;odr, on the basis of crank shaft rotation angle/crank shaft drive motor current characteristics obtained from crank shaft rotation angle/crank shaft drive reaction torque characteristics, without depending on the crank shaft rotation angle.
