The method involves applying a liquid releasing agent (47) as a molecular occupancy on a metallic surface of a circulating tape (2) that is made of metal and provided with a metallic coating, where the molecular occupancy comprises an amphiphilic organic compound e.g. phosphonic acid and hydroxamic acid. A hydraulic fluid (45) i.e. water-based ink, is applied on the circulating tape, and a print image is provided at printing locations. The hydraulic fluid of the circulating tape is heated and transferred on a print material (43). An independent claim is also included for a device for indirect applying of a hydraulic fluid to a print material.
