PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method of a converter, whereby occurrence of slopping can be reduced without using any additional auxiliary materials or modifying equipment.SOLUTION: An operation method of a converter comprises: introducing molten iron into the converter; subsequently performing blowing; and, after blowing is started, charging an iron oxide source and a CaO source comprising limestone and quicklime. Here, a portion of the iron oxide source is separately charged after slopping is completed so as to reduce the amount of the iron oxide source charged before the occurrence of slopping, and the amounts of limestone and quicklime in the CaO source are adjusted so that their amounts calculated in terms of CaO are kept constant and that cooling power can be increased, thereby reducing the iron oxide source charged with the CaO reduction by the amount corresponding to the increase of the cooling power. |
