PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus that can easily achieve both update of software embedded in its own apparatus and protection of information, and to provide a software update method, and an image processing apparatus.SOLUTION: An information processing apparatus for updating software 21 embedded in its own apparatus comprises: encryption decryption means 5 for storing a value to be uniquely calculated from software 20 to 22, encrypting information by using the value, and decrypting the information encrypted by using the value; authentication means for authenticating a software update file 110; software update means for updating the software 21 by using the software update file 110 authenticated successfully; and encryption key management means for controlling so as to encrypt again the information 70 encrypted by using the value, with a new value changed on the basis of update of the software 21. |
