摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation detector and a food product radiation detector that enable weight saving while having sufficient energy resolution.SOLUTION: A radiation detector 1 includes a scintillator 2, a semiconductor optical detector 5 attached to a first face of the scintillator 2 so that a light receiving surface faces the first face, and a radiation shield material 6 covering the scintillator 2 and the semiconductor optical detector 5. When the volume of the scintillator 2 is defined as Vs (cm), the area of the first face is defined as A, the area of the light receiving surface is defined as B and a light emission amount at a room temperature in the scintillator 2 having the size of 5×5×5 mm is defined as L(Photon/MeV), the radiation detector 1 satisfies the following relations: (I) 1<A/B&le;1,000, (II) L0&ge;18,000, and (III) 1&le;Vs&le;1,000.
