PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure hydrocarbon concentration with higher accuracy.SOLUTION: In a gas sensor 100, a gas to be measured is introduced into a first detection pole 20 and a second detection pole 22, provided in a base part 10 consisting of an ion conductive solid electrolyte, and measured is a difference value V4 of an electromotive force difference V1 between the first detection pole 20 and a reference pole 26, and an electromotive force difference V2 between the second detection pole 22 and the reference pole 26. Although the first detection pole 20 has the same material as the second detection pole 22, the second detection pole 22 is covered with a separation membrane 30 having a molecular sieving function preventing penetration of non methane hydrocarbon. When the difference value V4 of the electromotive force difference V1 and the electromotive force difference V2 is taken, canceled is an electromotive force difference resulting from a gas composition penetrating the separation membrane 30 in the gas to be measured. Consequently, hydrocarbon concentration can be measured with higher accuracy on the basis of the difference value V4. |
