PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microporous membrane having an increased water vapor permeation flux and an improved resistance to fouling in membrane distillation and to provide a distillation method using the same.SOLUTION: A membrane distillation system 10 supplies non-distilled liquid 14, after heated by a heat generating means 12 using waste heat, to a hydrophilic layer of a polytetrafluoroethylene-made microporous membrane 20 that includes a hydrophilic layer and a hydrophobic layer and is asymmetric and vapor permeable, one asymmetric side of which is coated with a hydrophilic coating material, by a supply means 16. The membrane distillation system also has a collection means 24 for collecting distilled liquid from the hydrophobic layer of the microporous membrane. |
