PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element capable of increasing an angle of beam spread, and a light emitting element package capable of increasing optical output.SOLUTION: A light emitting element 100A includes a substrate 1, a buffer layer 3 on the substrate, and a light-emitting structure 10 on the buffer layer. The buffer layer has a refractive index decreased with approach to the substrate from the light-emitting structure. Light generated from an active layer 7 and propagated into the buffer layer 3 is more widely spread to enter the substrate. Thus, the angle of beam spread is expanded. |
