PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for thread-displaying mail by line units. SOLUTION: When a mailer 207 transmits or receives mail, a text analysis/storage logic 203 analyzes the mail, and stores a phrase in the master mail of the mail quoted by the mail and mention in the mail whose phrase has been quoted in a stringed condition into a database 204. When any mail is selected from a transmission and reception mail box 202, a display sentence retrieval logic 205 retrieves and acquires mention quoting the phrase in the mail having a parentage with the selected mail from the database 204 for each phrase mentioned in the selected mail, and displays the mention quoting the retrieved phase in a stringed condition by a hierarchical structure for each phrase of the selected mail.
