<p>The invention relates to a method for controlling at least one functional unit of a vehicle, comprising detecting (S200) a gesture of a vehicle occupant; and controlling (S500) a functional unit as a function of the detected gesture if a first predetermined condition is met. The first predetermined condition is that a sequence of movements of a detected gesture conforms to a predetermined pattern of movement, which is similar to a movement of a functional unit to be controlled or is analogous to a manipulation of the functional unit to be controlled.
