A log management system according to an embodiment of the present invention analyzes and manages logs acquired by a computer. The log management system references the logs and generates a plurality of log groups each formed of a plurality of log records. The log management system also identifies an active period in which a display area is active, for each of the plurality of log groups, and compares a start-to-end period from the start time to the end time of a reference log group selected from the plurality of log groups with the active period of each of the log groups other than the reference log group to identify log groups having the active periods that are included in the start-to-end period. The log management system determines whether to include each of the identified log groups in a first cluster where the reference log group belongs, according to the length of the active period of the log group in the start-to-end period.
