A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus detects a carrier type for receiving a signal, determines a transport block size (TBS) based on the detected carrier type, and receives the signal according to the determined TBS. The apparatus also determines a carrier type for transmitting a signal, determines a transport block size (TBS) based on the carrier type, and transmits the signal according to the determined carrier type and TBS.
