An objective of the present invention is to increase display quality of a display device which is capable of visual recognition of a stereoscopic image. A liquid-crystal element comprises a pair of substrates, a liquid-crystal layer, a plurality of light-transmissible spacers which regulate a gap between the substrates, and a disparity barrier pattern. The disparity barrier pattern is configured such that a plurality of barrier parts (BA) which shut out entering light, and barrier aperture parts (BO) which are positioned between the barrier parts (BA) and which transmit the entering light, may be formed. The plurality of spacers are positions such that the distribution density of the spacers which are positioned in the barrier aperture parts is higher than the distribution density of the spacers which are positioned in the barrier parts (BA).
