Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for periodical protocol packet transmission by a network device, which relate to the communications technologies. The method comprises: labeling one or more physical ports of a network device; labeling one or more instances which need to periodically transmit a protocol packet under each physical port; when a plurality of instances request a processor to transmit protocol packets, performing delay processing on packet transmission initiation time for the plurality of instances, so as to form a time sequence of packet transmission initiation delay corresponding to the plurality of instances; and according to the time sequence of packet transmission initiation delay, periodically transmitting protocol packets of corresponding instances. |
