Disclosed is an apparatus for training sociability and a method therefor. The apparatus for training sociability includes: an input part for receiving the behavioral information of a trainee; a trainee state analysis part for determining the state of the trainee by analyzing and classifying the behavioral information into one of excitement information, pleasure information and intimacy information; a training mode decision part for determining a training mode according to the analyzed state of the trainee; and a robot control part for controlling a robot according to the training mode determined.
