PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection method and an inspection apparatus capable of performing highly accurate inspection even when there is a positional deviation caused by expansion/contraction and meander of a base material of a printed matter to be an inspection target while suppressing resources of an inspection processing circuit as much as possible.SOLUTION: The inspection method using image data obtained by imaging a web-like printed matter by receiving means includes: an image division step for dividing the whole picked image only in a carrying direction; a coordinate correction step for applying position correction operation to a plurality of divided areas divided in the image division step in each divided area unit and obtaining divided area image data by correcting the coordinates of the divided areas; and a defect detection/determination processing step for detecting a defect by performing image processing such as processing of pattern matching and taking a difference by using the divided area image data obtained in the coordinate correction step and previously prepared reference image data (reference image) and determining defect contents. |
