PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which can be made further compact with a reduced number of components, and a head mounted display equipped with the same.SOLUTION: An image display device 1 includes: laser light sources 21R, 21G and 21B; a light combiner unit 23 which combines laser beams from the laser light sources 21R, 21G and 21B; and an optical scanner 40 which two-dimensionally sweeps an imaging laser beam LL from the light combiner unit 23. Optical axes of laser beams from the laser light sources 21R, 21G and 21B heading toward the optical scanner 40 are on a same plane. The optical scanner 40 has an optically reflective surface 414a, which is located perpendicular to the plane in a non-driven state, and is configured to two-dimensionally sweep the imaging laser beam LL reflected from the optically reflective surface 414a by swinging the optically reflective surface 414a in the in-plane direction of the plane and in a direction perpendicular thereto. |
