Various embodiments of the present invention include a system for cooling a dynamoelectric machine and a method for the same. In some embodiments, the system includes: at least one of a nitrogen separation unit (NSU) for extracting nitrogen from inlet air source or an air separation unit (ASU); a nitrogen expander connected to at least one of the NSU or the ASU in the fluidal manner and expanding the extracted nitrogen; and a dynamoelectric machine connected to the nitrogen expander in the fluidal manner and cooling the dynamoelectric machine by accommodating the expanded nitrogen.
