<p>An information processing apparatus includes a first selection unit configured to receive selection of a first device object 802 having a first function of an output apparatus via a setting screen 801, a second selection unit configured to automatically select a second device object 803 having a second function of the output apparatus, which corresponds to the first device 802 selected by the first selection unit, and a setting unit configured to set both the first device object selected by the first selection unit and the second device object selected by the second selection unit to a virtual device object, wherein the first function differs from the second function. In particular the device is a multifunction printer device (MFP of MFD) and the virtual device object is a gadget allowing a file to be printed by being dragged and dropped over a function associated with the device. The first and second functions are printing and facsimile functions. The second device objected is selected based on IP address, output port information and general usage and setting information. The invention is intended to reduce the user workload when selecting the second device object 803 for the printer virtual device object. Also described is a method of automatically selecting an image 804 for the virtual device object icon.</p> |
