The apparatus (20) i.e. breath analyzer, has a hollow tube (2), and a porous reactive mass in the hollow tube. A measurement unit measures content i.e. alcohol vapor, in breath. The measurement unit is calibrated according to a predetermined volume of fluid crossing the mass. A thermally-actuated indicator e.g. ink, indicates that the mass has reached a critical heating temperature corresponding to the passage of a volume of fluid through the mass that is equal to or above a predetermined standard volume. A thermosensitive indicator controls a usage temperature of the apparatus. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a fluid content measuring apparatus.
