PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid operation defect of a relief valve in a high-pressure fuel pump.SOLUTION: In a relief valve 10 of a high-pressure fuel pump 20, a movable holder 50 slides the inside of a guide hole 24 in both a lift former period Ce when a quantity of lift reaches a set distance Le and lift latter period Cl after the quantity of lift reaches the set distance Le of a lift period C when a valve body 70 lifts from a sitting condition on a valve seat 23 to a pressurizing chamber 2a side, a minimum gap area between the movable holder 50 and the guide hole 24 becomes greater in the lift latter period Cl than in the lift former period Ce.
