A method for preparing a fluorescent material to be coated on the inside of a fluorescent lamp, and a fluorescent lamp using the fluorescent material prepared by the method are provided to minimize the deterioration of a fluorescent material and to improve the coating characteristics of a fluorescent material. A method for preparing a fluorescent material comprises the steps of dissolving a surface treating compound in a phosphor contained in a container; stirring it with applying ultrasonic wave to the phosphor where the surface treating compound is dissolved; and allowing the surface treating compound particle to be distributed uniformly on the surface of the phosphor particle. Preferably the surface treating compound is selected from silicon dioxide(SiO2), polyphosphate, tungsten oxide(WO3), zinc oxide(ZnO), indium oxide(In2O3) and magnesium oxide(MgO). |
