PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of treating synucleinopathies in subjects that are not generally diagnosed clinically with a lysosomal storage disease, as well as associated methods of making medicaments and screening methods.SOLUTION: There is administered a pharmaceutical composition including an effective amount of one or both of acidic &bgr;-glucocerebrosidase (GBA) polypeptide and polynucleotide encoding the acidic &bgr;-glucocerebrosidase (GBA) polypeptide, for lowering a level of α-synuclein in an object nervous system or an object lysosome compartment.
