PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter which allows reduction of electromagnetic force until a pinion abuts on the vicinity of abutment on a ring gear, and which can enhance the electromagnetic force after the abutment.SOLUTION: A starter includes a pinion fitted to an output shaft for transmitting turning force of a motor, an electromagnetic switch for meshing a ring gear and pinion, a shift lever for moving the pinion in an axial direction, a pinion pushing spring for generating a load to mesh the pinion with the ring gear, a core fixed to one end side of a case for forming an electromagnetic circuit of the electromagnetic switch, a plunger facing the core through a first clearance and protrusively moving to the other end of the case, a bobbin arranged in the case and wound by the coil, and an auxiliary core arranged to keep a second clearance on the magnetic circuit and the plunger on an outer peripheral side of the plunger while branching a part of flux directed to the core from the plunger in a position where a part of the bobbin does not come into contact with the plunger on an inside diameter side. |
